Dear HHSA members,
Welcome to the 2008 show season. I hope this year brings new opportunities and rewards for all. We are very excited about having a new webmaster and website so please go check it out!!! It has membership applications, 2008 calendar of events, prize lists, fun links, a ‘what’s new’ page, rulebook, 2007 Year End Award winners and the history of HHSA on Oahu. Visit the website throughout the year for upcoming clinicsand special events. We will also be posting show results throughout the year.
To help with membership processing please send your application to Sidney Westley by the end of February, this will insure that you receive your cards in plenty of time for the first show. Starting this year, members will be required to attach a Xerox copy of their current HHSA membership cards for the rider, horse and owner to all show entry forms. Entries will NOT be accepted without copies of your cards. If you are riding a horse that you do not own, then the horse owner must be a current HHSA member and provide a copy of their membership card to be attached to the entry form when needed. Note: Short stirrups entrants are not required to pay membership fees to participate.
We are trying to create a ‘blast’ email list for announcements throughout the year. If you would like to be included on this list please provide your email address on the membership application form.
Don’t forget that each horse entered in a USEF affiliated show must have a USEF Horse ID# or Registered Breed ID #. You may obtain a number at no cost by visiting www.USEF.org and apply on line. You do not need to be a USEF member to obtain a horse ID#, but you will have to sign up for an authorized user account (AUA) at no cost in order to get to the proper screen. Please call USEF at (859) 258-2472 if you need assistance in this matter. Once you have obtained an ID# for your horse it is good for life and does not have to be renewed yearly.
To assist with operating documentation we ask that separate checks be written for each event. Separate checks for memberships, show entry forms, clinics and stabling would be appreciated. In addition we would like to ask if anyone has connections for accommodations or the use of a car for our visiting show judges. We have had generous donations in the past and would like to give others a chance to participate. Help in these matters would count towards year-end volunteer hours and greatly reduces show expenses.
Looking forward to a successful, happy and healthy year.
Aloha, Peg Tatum HHSA President cdtatum@aol.com
